Poetic Monologue and Ambient Music
Finally, the short movie filmed in May last year has been released. The reason it took so long was that recording the music turned out to be quite difficult. But this March, I was able to record with talented musicians. This movie titled Poetic Monologue and Ambient Music (「詩的なモノローグとアンビエントな音楽」 was filmed at an old Japanese house in Hamamatsu. The monologue was written by my friend Shuhei Harada, who has been my friend since 7th grade. He wrote a beautiful poem titled Freedom for this film.
In May, Hamamatsu City, especially in the northern mountains, already looked like summer. There was almost no budget, and traveling four hours from Tokyo in a passenger car filled with equipment to capture the sunrise was a new experience for me. By the way, it was cloudy that day, so we could not capture the sunrise after all. This kind of shooting is very demanding, and sometimes I feel like I might not be able to do it again. But about a year later, after finishing it and seeing the completed work, I find myself wanting to shoot again. Though that depends on whether my 34 year old body can keep up. Art is sometimes made of time itself.
I handled the music, cinematography, editing, and sound effects myself. For the music, I wrote it specifically for the scenes, which I had not done for a while.
